Massive congrats to Nollywood director and producer C.J Fiery Obasi for getting signed on by American Talent company Creative Artistes Agency (CAA). C.J as he is fondly called, shot into the limelight when he released his seminal movie, ‘Ojuju’ – a film that won him the AMVCA Trail Blazer Award in 2013 and he has since gone on to produce ‘O’Town and the film adaptation of acclaimed writer Nnedi Okorafor’s Afro-futuristic book ‘Hello Moto’.
This can only portend great things for the industry as I believe it signifies we are closing the gap, one person at a time. It was also reported in the news a few years back that Genevieve Nnaji has signed with United Talent Agency, shortly after the release of her movie ‘Lion Heart’.
The director made this information known on his IG page with these words;

Very happy to announce that I am now represented by the Creative Artists Agency (CAA). CAA is the largest talent agency in the world and home to filmmakers like James Cameron, JJ Abrams, Jordan Peele, Steven Spielberg, Ang Lee & so many others. I want to thank everyone who has supported this journey so far, with their money, time, sweat, blood and tears – my beautiful partner & producer extraordinaire Oge Obasi, our collaborators, my family, especially my parents who never questioned or reprimanded me when I made that psychotic decision 8 years ago to leave a good paying day job to pursue filmmaking full time. Blessings to all the dreamers.
We wish him the best in all his future endeavours as we believe nothing but good things will come from this..
