Periodically we put on our search light to shine on actors in Nollywood that are making waves in the industry (See our previous list here Nollywood Leading Men 2020 ) Now we have been able to spot a number of Actors that have been getting our temperatures rising in recent times and here we have compiled our list. Here they are (in no particular order!

  1. Jidekene Achufusi
Jidekene Achufus

They call him ‘Swanky JKA’ (not to be confused with stylist Swanky Jerry) real name Jidekene Achufusi. He burst on to our consciousness when he took on the lead role in the film ‘Living In Bondage: Breaking Free‘ and ended up winning an AMVCA Award. Since then we have been eagerly looking forward to seeing him in more productions because despite his pretty face, he really can act.  Judging from what we have seen on social media recently we might not have long to wait as he has been spotted on a couple of sets recently.

2. Uzor Arakwe

Uzor Arakwe

You guys have been sleeping on Uzor Arakwe.… If you’re like me and saw him first on ‘Sugar Rush then  you are in for a great surprise when you see him in other movies or as his real authentic self. He is a breath of fresh air. Very suave, well, spoken and a great actor.

3. Deyemi Okalawon

Deyemi Okanlawon

Where do we start? Deyemi is the man you love to hate and love to love at the same time. If you follow him on Instagram you will understand what that statement means. He has a wicked sense of humour and is fond of taking the mickey out on his colleagues and friends alike but he is also a great actor, suave, well spoken etc. He is also fond of being cast in the role of playing ‘the jerk’ in movies. I wonder why? Maybe you can ask him… Lol!

4. Ibrahim Suleiman

Ibrahim Suleiman

‘Cute’ is what comes to mind when you see Ibrahim Suleiman on screen. We noticed him in Tinsel where he acted and met his lovely wife actress Linda Ejiofor and he recently became a father.. that just adds to the cuteness if you ask us. His role on Red Tv’s ‘The Men’s Club‘ as the less than savoury Patrick… is another man you will love to hate and hate to love…. Lol

5. Perez Egbi

Perez Egbi

Perez Egbi is a great actor that is coming up strong in the industry. He has acted a number of movies both with in and outside the country but in the next few months watch out! Nollywood will be seeing a lot of him in several movies coming out real soon.

5. The Men of Red TV’s ‘The Men’s Club’

Can we please talk about the men of Red TV’s ‘The Men’s Club’? Baaj Adegbule. Etim Effiong, Efa Iwara & Ayo Ayolola… Oh my goodness… they are doing a phenomenal job. I started watching because a couple of my favourite actors were in it and then got sucked in … That’s how I followed them down that rabbit hole of the whole ‘Aminu & Tumini’ drama and all the other shenigans that go on in ‘The Men’s Club. Great production and writing.. I do at times get concerned as the women seem to be mostly portrayed as either sexual objects, nags, witches or saints but then… what a do.. it is after all the Men’s Room.. I guess that’s their perspective. Thank goodness we have more women in Nollywood, producing. writing and directing more movies now so we have a balanced perspective.. but that is not my premise for the day. We give them a round of applause for the work they are doing and if you haven’t watched them yet, well what are you waiting for.. Youtube is your friend.

There you have it! Did we nail it or miss out on some people? Let us know!
