Nigeria has been shaken to its very foundations in the last couple of days by the protests from the youths of the nation. The young people are taking a stand and saying a resounding No to Police brutality. It all started when a young man in Ogbomosho, Jimoh Isiaq was shot by members of the dreaded Ant-Robbery Police Unit known as SARS.
SARS when it was set up was created to combat crime, anti-robbery activities etc but has since developed into what many has deemed a scourge to the Nigerian populace. They are alleged responsible for several kidnaps, extra-judicial killings, blackmail and robberies of innocent Nigerians and the people have had enough. They demand the total scrapping of the unit and amongst other demands. Several celebrities have come out to lend their voices to the cause including musicians Falz, RunTown, Wizkid. Tiwa Savage Davido and many others. A few hours ago, the Government responded by announcing that it hds disbanded SARS! Hurray! Victory! Power to the people. Check out some pictures from scenes of the march across the country.
